The Sun East Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization governed by a Board of Directors and steered by an Executive Director who manages operations and fund disbursements. Health & Human Services We support programs tackling poverty, hunger, illness, special needs, mental health, seniors, veterans’ needs and other local humanitarian services. Natural, Cultural, & Historic Preservation Initiatives for land conservation, museums, and the arts are among those that will be considered for grant funding. Keith Dawson Foundation provides transportation and critical items to cancer patients who reside in Delaware County. Sun East Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to help the organization reduce financial burdens and stress for those who need to focus on treatment, healing and recovery. The 9th St Youth and Community Center gives the young people of Chester opportunities to participate in activities and events that promote healthy and safe lifestyles. Sun East supports the YCC Environmental Youth Corps (EYC) program, which engages youth in watershed cleanup and maintenance projects as well as tree planting and tree tending. CADES provides early intervention, school-age, adult day, and community living programs for children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. For the annual CADES Putt-Putt Palooza fundraiser, individuals and organizations like Sun East build golf holes and place them throughout the CADES facility. This year’s golf hole theme was “All Things Philly!” Our team built and staffed a hole honoring Boathouse Row. Tender Hearts’ mission is to assist and support medically fragile children and their families throughout the state of Delaware in order to create a better quality of life. Sun East not only provides funding for Tender Hearts, but also regularly volunteer to help bring joy to the community they serve. Most recently, we helped staff their Valentine Smile party at Nemours Hospital in February and wrapped holiday gifts for participating families in December. Teachers’ Teammates is a nonprofit ensuring all K-12 students and teachers in Delaware County, PA, have the resources to thrive in their education. Recently our team brought three large boxes of donated classroom supplies to their warehouse and helped prepare reading kits to help local teachers to do their important work of inspiring and educating our youth. Kennett Area Community Service provides a variety of critical programs and adult education sessions, feeding over 3,000 people every month and helping connect vulnerable individuals and families with sustainable living solutions. Sun East employees frequently roll up our sleeves to help pack produce at the KACS Food Cupboard. The Sun East Foundation sponsored The Barn at Spring Brook Farm’s Autumn Fest Socialization Event. The Barn was created as a fully handicapped-accessible facility so that children who might otherwise not be able to experience the complete range of farm experiences and involvement in animal care would be able to do so. Some of the common diagnoses of children served include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy and Developmental Delay. Family Support Line advances the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse in Delaware County. The organization’s “Room to Heal” is stocked with items for children who have experienced abuse and/or may need to transition from location to location. Funding from the Sun East Foundation helps stock resources needed to serve children who are referred there. Keep Music Alive’s mission is to help more children reap the educational, therapeutic and social benefits of playing music. The organization hosts numerous Musical Petting Zoo programs each year where unique and melodic percussion and stringed instruments are made available to touch and play.
