Sun East Foundation (referred to herein as “we,” “our,” “us,” and “Foundation”) is committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and security of personal information entrusted to us by our donors and all others who use this website. The use of the terms “you,” “your,” and “user” all refer to and have the meaning of you as the user of our website.

Scope of Policy: This Policy applies to personal data that we collect through this website, other Foundation registration, electronic forms, surveys, email, or any other channel that we operate, collectively “our sites.”

No Sale of Information: The Foundation does not sell, rent, loan, or otherwise share (except as disclosed below) any information about our donors or users of our sites.

Law Enforcement: We may share your personal data with law enforcement, other government agencies or authorities or third parties as required by applicable law, court order, subpoena, or legal process served on us.

DATA WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU

Data that you provide about yourself: We collect your personal data when you voluntarily provide it to us. For example, you might give us your name, email address, and physical address if you choose to participate in a Foundation event, complete a “Request Information” Form, or email, text, or contact us through our sites. Participation is voluntary and you will have the opportunity to decide whether or not to disclose information to our sites. Information collected from the Request Information Form may be shared with third parties to perform administrative or marketing functions. You may always opt out, now or in the future if you do not wish to receive our messages or marketing information. 

It is always your choice whether to provide your data. Some personal data must be provided to participate in some of our programs, activities, or events. If you choose not to provide information you might not be able to participate in such programs, activities, or events. In addition, some aspects of our sites might not function without such information.

Personal Data about others: Do not provide personal data about others unless you are authorized or required to do so by contract or applicable law. You may provide personal data on behalf of another person if you have provided them with a copy of this notice and obtained their express consent. We may ask you to provide evidence of that notice and consent.

Data we receive from third parties and other sources: We may receive personal data about you from other sources, including your company/organization, professional references, publicly available sources, third-party analytics providers, or other third parties. By way of example only, we might receive your data if someone at your company designates you as a contact person for that company. 

Payment Processors: If you donate or purchase on our sites, the transaction may be handled by third parties responsible for processing your transaction “Payment Processors.” Payment Processors have their privacy policies, and those terms will apply to you regarding how that Payment Processor handles your data. If you are redirected to a third-party site for your donation or purchase, please be sure to review any linked policies provided during payment processing because they will apply to you.

IP Addresses: When you visit our sites, we may collection collect your Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to analyze trends, administer our website, track the movement of users, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Cookies: The Foundation avoids the use of cookies whenever possible, but cannot guarantee that we will not use them. A “cookie” is a small file placed on your hard drive by our web server that helps our site to be much more intuitive when you request information. For example, cookies are required to help protect the privacy of a member’s transactions by automatically terminating online sessions if the member forgets to log out. Once the user closes the browser, the cookie simply terminates. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to a user’s email address, obtaining data from the user’s hard drive, or gaining confidential or sensitive information about the user while on the Foundation’s website. Additionally, a cookie cannot be read by any website other than the one that set the cookie. We do not use the information collected by these “cookies” for any other purposes. If you reject the cookie, you may still use our website, but our website’s general inability to verify you as the user may result in your inability to use certain functionality of our website. Cookies also enable a website to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on each website. Please understand that some organizations affiliated with the Foundation or providing links to the Foundation’s website may use cookies on their respective websites. However, we have no access to or control over these cookies.

Minors: Our sites are not intended for minors (individuals under the age of 13, or equivalent age minimum age depending on the jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you become aware of any personal data we have collected from a minor, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a minor, we will take steps to delete the data without notice as soon as possible.

HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

Purposes: We may use your personal data to send you information that you requested; and to review and respond to proposal documents, feedback, comments, photos, videos, or other information you submit through our sites. We may also use your data to administer our programs and charitable activities, safeguard and improve our sites, protect our rights and the safety of others, and comply with legal process, applicable law or government agency inquiries.

HOW WE SHARE YOUR DATA

Employees and Service Providers: We may share your personal data with our employees, agents, affiliates, and service providers who need to know to process it for us based on our instructions and for no other purpose. We do not share your data with any third party (including our service providers) for marketing purposes unless you have given us consent to do so. If you believe the data you provided to us is being misused by a third party, please contact us right away.

Demographic Information: We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. These statistics help us evaluate the effectiveness and appeal of various services and segments of our sites.

Third-Party Links: Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include links to third-party websites. These third-party websites have separate and independent privacy policies. Third-party websites may require cookies for their sites to operate properly. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked websites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our sites and welcome any feedback about these websites you may have.

HOW WE STORE AND PROTECT YOUR DATA

Storage and Transfer: Your personal data is stored by our service providers in facilities located in the United States.

Storage Period: We will store your personal data until it is no longer needed to fulfill the purpose(s) for which it was collected or as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law. After that time, we will either delete or anonymize your data. If that is not possible, we will securely store your data and isolate it from any further use until deletion is possible. We may dispose of any data at our discretion without notice subject to applicable law.

Data Protection: The transmission of data by the internet is not completely secure. Therefore we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our sites and any such transmission is at your own risk. We maintain appropriate technical and administrative measures to prevent the unauthorized disclosure of or access to personal data. We limit access to personal data and require that employees authorized to access personal data maintain the confidentiality of that data.
